Lee Eastman

Goldsmith & Artist

Born in the Riverina (Deniliquin) NSW Australia, Lee spent a number of years in Queensland before returning to live in Albury in 2018. Since the mid 1970’s, Lee’s career was working with precious metals and gemstones as the goldsmith and jeweller in her family business on the Gold Coast, Queensland. In 2014 she retired after also teaching the Jewellery Manufacturing course at Brisbane TAFE for 11 years. Lee began to explore watercolours and soon also took oil painting lessons.    Lee still has her home goldsmithing workshop and creates jewellery pieces by private commission.

Following secondary school in Melbourne, Lee studied Art at RMIT, majoring in Gold and Silversmithing.   Learning new and improving skills have been ongoing throughout her life. “Design has fascinated me throughout my life in the jewellery industry and now composition in painting seems to dominate my interest and my time. I like to paint soft realities.  I look for beauty in the world around me. I try to express the magnificence of a pleasing design in my compositions and look for interesting abstract shapes.  I like to express a very fine eye for detail while still retaining a natural softness.”

Lee now resides on a beautiful farm on the Victorian side of Lake Hume.

Fellow of the Gold & Silversmiths
